Wow, I’m old!

Aging is not a fun process, though there are quite a few advantages that come along with aging, as well. I was thinking recently about the first time I had that “I am old” feeling come over me. I believe I was 22 or 23 at the time, so really, really old.

As a student, walking to class on my college campus, I came across someone I knew from home: a girl I used to babysit. If someone I used to babysit for is now in college, I must be really old!!

Of course, now all the kids I once babysat are parents, professionals, and contributing members of society, and I’m not THAT old!

Do you remember the first time you felt old? Did you have a shocking moment, or was it more gradual? Let’s hear it!

  1. When I started to be called ‘Ma’am’, instead of ‘Miss’! And once a boy around the age of 11 said ‘hey, lady’……I turned around to see who he was talking to, and it was me, LOL

  2. For some reason, the age of 27 was disgruntling — “I’m past a quarter century and I haven’t done ANYthiiiiiiing!!!” Feeling that I was closer to 30 than 24 and a total has-been — typical angsty, whiny twenty-something.

Actually hitting 30 (then 40, 45…) wasn’t bad at all, although I’m kinda wishing I could put the brakes on 50 for a little while…

What do you think?
