There’s an annual tradition in Boston called the Duckling Parade, which is led by the Harvard Marching Band, and boasts hundreds of children in various states of duckling-like dress. The parade ends at the Make Way for Ducklings statue in the Public Garden, with kids lining up to take their turn sitting on the various ducklings and having their photos taken. We missed it last year, and were afraid the rain would put a damper on today’s festivities, but the rain stopped about an hour before the parade, and held off for the rest of the day. I encourage anyone who is near Boston on future Mother’s Days to stop by and take a peek.
I love this. My favourite is the wee one in a fluffy suit holding an almost eaten corn cob in her hand. And…. Make Way for Ducklings is one of my favourites! It’s still popular with kids at school.
I especially love the boots on that little one (and the tights). Somehow, I managed to miss Make Way for Ducklings. I’d never heard of Goodnight Moon until I worked at a pre-school in college. I had a deprived childhood. 🙂
Soooo glad you shared this. I have a granddaughter who would love to dress up and see others in duck attire! What a fun event! http://ohtheplaceswesee.com
It was so much fun! The kids had a great time – there were balloon artists, face painters – the works. And the parade; they took it so seriously waving at the crowd. So cute.
Would have loved being there!
You’ll have to plan on it one of these years – or start your own!
Cutest. Thing. Ever.
There was a whole lot of adorable happening.
