Landmarks and Statues (it’s as if I never left Colombia!)

We weren’t in Colombia as tourists, but we still managed to see a few tourist sites (that weren’t churches). Here are a few:

A water fountain/statue, outside (and facing) the Basilica del Senor de los Milagros de Buga.

The Basilica itself (see, I’ve already broken the “no church” rule!).This photo was shot by our translator, to whom I had loaned my camera. Oscar had a really good eye! I love this photo!

Not to be ignored, I believe this image was made by our original translator, Henry. Tough to keep track of who’s shooting which direction! Also, a very nice image, and I’m sure that, a couple weeks ago, I’d have been able to tell you the name of the church (broke the rule twice in two images. I suck!).

El Gato, in Cali.

Christo Rey, which, we’re told, isn’t as grand as a similar statue in Brazil.

Some of you have begged for pics of me. So here I am, humidity hair and all, with Christo Rey.

One dramatic with clouds, the other close-up with a pigeon. OOOooohhhh.

On the road up to Christo Rey, there were several spots where sculptures had been carved into the mountain and painted. On the way down, we met the artist!

The artist, Carlos. Currently working on something smaller, and more easily sold.

These are some of the mountainside carvings that have been done over the past few years. Carlos does great work!
