Nature Walk

Tonight, we walked through a wooded area, in which many of the trees appear to be diseased. Lots of holes from woodpeckers, downed trees, trees missing bark, etc. – it was lovely. Some of my favorite images from the evening are here. As always, click on the image to make it larger.

Large chunk of bug-eaten bark on the ground.

Leaves still on the trees.

The Birds are Back

We’re finally seeing signs of spring in the Boston area – most of the snow has melted, and the ospreys, cardinals and snowy egrets have returned to the marsh. I’ve heard rumors of blooming crocuses, but haven’t seen any sign of them yet. While we wait, enjoy this picture of a snowy egret coming in for a landing.
