A carnival took over our little neighborhood of Houghs Neck, Mass., last weekend, and I went out Friday night to get some photos. Here are some of my favorites.
As always, if you want a better look, click on the photo to enlarge.
This week’s challenge is layers. What’s your take on the theme?
This week’s Travel Theme is Multicolored (sorry, Ailsa, I spelled it correctly) ;). How convenient that a carnival hit our little neighborhood tonight? Hubby and I, after both having a stressful several weeks at work, wandered over, and had a grand time people-watching, and trying to get the perfect photos. It was just the relaxed evening we needed.
Fun carnival, lots of colors and lights. If you have a photo you think shows the theme “mulitcolored,” join in the fun! Go to Ailsa’s blog for instructions. It’s easy!
Saturday was the Caribbean Carnival in Mattapan, a neighborhood in south Boston. Bright colors, loud music and great food. At least, I assume there was great food – my husband assures me it was across the street from where we were. Across a street that was barricaded to prevent crossing. I’m pretty sure we missed the best part, but we very much enjoyed what we saw.
Lots of feathers, skimpy costumes and jewels were the flavor of the day.
Going to need a new costume for next year’s parade!
This is the guy Darth Maul wants to be when he grows up!
She did not look happy to be there. I imagine it was a little warm under all those feathers.
I have to say, I was shocked some of these costumes were allowed in public.
This woman was not a performer – this is how she dressed just to watch the event.
It was a lot of fun to see the national pride, and people proudly wearing the colors and waving the flags of their native countries.
