Hey, Fire Boat Captain, Ovah Heah!

It’s a little hot in Boston right now. We took the whole fam out to watch the USS Constitution make its yearly trip into the harbor, where it was met at Castle Island with a 21-gun salute, and returned the greeting. As always, preceding and following the Constitution are two fire boats, spraying red, white and blue water into the air. Needless to say, everyone on Castle Island was wishing the boats would get just a leeetle closer.

I may have gotten a little carried away with the water photos. But seriously. I’m ovah heah.

St. Patrick’s Day in Southie

Hubby and I spent several hours in South Boston today, waiting for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. We were near the end of the route, and 90 minutes after the parade should have started, nothing had happened. We enjoyed the people watching, but we decided to get out of the cold and head home, since there was no indication of when the parade might reach us. So, I’ve got pictures of some of the faces to share, but none of the parade that wasn’t.

Travel Theme: Green

I’ll keep my “green” to the theme of the weekend, since St. Patrick’s Day is kind of a big deal in Boston. I have co-workers who’ve asked for Monday off, because they’ll still be drunk Monday morning. I must be old. Or not Irish enough. Or something. So, in the spirit of green, and the spirit of the holiday, some photos from last year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Boston’s South End.
