Nature Walk

Tonight, we walked through a wooded area, in which many of the trees appear to be diseased. Lots of holes from woodpeckers, downed trees, trees missing bark, etc. – it was lovely. Some of my favorite images from the evening are here. As always, click on the image to make it larger.

Large chunk of bug-eaten bark on the ground.

Leaves still on the trees.

Before the Leaves

This photo seems sort of surreal, but it’s a photo of branches, and buds, on a tree at Arnold Arboretum. It seems early for things to be budding, but they definitely were last weekend. I hope this week’s cold snap doesn’t hurt all the plants that were so anxious for spring.
